Test of AR Visualisation of the Mulberry Tree for “In Darwin’s Garden”.

On Feb 28th, I met with Alan Summers to discuss the next stage in the development of the In Darwin’s Garden project. Alan has produced a preliminary augmented reality (AR) visualisation of the mulberry tree that can be viewed using smart phones or ipads using the “Junaio” application.

Interview with Takahiko Iimura

Takahiko Iimura

I have posted the text of an interview I made with pioneering Japanese video artist and experimental film-maker Takahiko Iimura in 2010,  first published in The Moving Image Review and Journal, (MIRAJ) Vol 1, Issue 2. Intellect Books, London, 2012.

Takahiko recently participated in “Digital Aesthetic 3” (Oct-Dec 2012), an exhibition and symposium I curated in collaboration with the Harris Museum, Preston. See the Digital Aesthetic 3 web site for more info.

New edition of “A History of Video Art” to be published this year.

The 2nd Edition of my book “A History of Video Art” will be published by Bloomsbury later this year. I have been working on a new updated and extended text and the new edition will be produced in a larger format with additional images. The book will be available in both paperback and hardback and the cover design will feature Peter Campus’ seminal videotape “Three Transitions” (1973).

3D visualisation for “In Darwin’s Garden”, a new site-specific installation.

Alan Summers, who is collaborating with me on this site-specific project at Charles Darwin’s home at Down House in Kent, has recently produced a new series of visualisations which will be published as part of a forthcoming Leonardo publication. The feature will include an on-line interview by Vince Dzieken with myself, Alan and Rowan Blaik, head gardener at Down House.
