After Dark (2013 & 2015)

After Dark was an event that was staged in the grounds of Cuckoo Farm studios near Colchester in the summer of 2013 and 2015. The central idea of After Dark was to present temporary and performative light-based and sound works by selected artists from an open submission in an outdoor, semi-rural environment. The work, all of which was site-specific, was shown for several hours from dusk until dark, with the works gradually emerging as the darkness fell. Interested artists were invited to submit proposals for the event and requested to visit the site prior to developing their proposal in order to identify both the specific location and the nature of the work as well as to specify its functioning, nature and operation.
